EFP Bombs

A new form of IED (improvised explosive device) has appeared in Iraq and Afghanistan. The technology used for these devices are decades old, but to construct these particular IEDs there needs to be a certain level of training and sophistication involved. The new IEDs are known as EFPs and they fire a metal projectile using a shaped-charge that can defeat all US armor on the modern battlefield.

Recently the media has been showing videos of EFPs or what appears to be EFP activity derived from attacks upon vehicles after those vehicles have been destroyed by EFPs. There are only a very small number of actual terrorist videos in existence that clearly show an EFP being used against US forces.

The video below is evidence of an EFP being used against a US military vehicle. The terrorist organization using the EFP in this video is known as Ansar al Sunnah, one of the most proficient groups operating in Iraq.
