Recruitment Interdiction

They look thirsty. Let’s give them something to drink!” – King Leonidas “300”

King Leonidas of Sparta knew how to deal with his country’s enemies. When the million-man Persian Army was thirsty and tired on the battlefield facing King Leonidas’ Spartans, the Spartans gathered together and pushed the Persians over the edge of a massive cliff into the salt water of the Aegean Sea. King Leonidas didn’t order fresh water skins to be brought to the front to give to the invading Persian soldiers. He filled the enemies of his people with salt water instead. There are valuable military science lessons to be learned from ancient battles like the Battle of Thermopylae. King Leonidas lived the Army values. So should all American men.

In the past year or so I have been studying leftist media psychological operations used against democracies involving military recruitment methodologies. Military recruitment for standing armies and navies is a key function of the nation-state system that has a written or unwritten constitution. Those nation-states that are unwilling to contribute a portion of their own to their own defense are absorbed by hostile nation-state systems or collectives of hostile states that have formed an alliance to seize territory and resources from other states.  War is a valid extension of politics, or the conflict over limited resources and how those resources are gathered and distributed and utilized. While war has been pondered by philosophs throughout the ages because of its destructive purpose, war is embraced by humans as that instrument that is critical in settling accounts. When the settling of accounts cannot be achieved through diplomacy, it can be achieved through direct warfare and combat action. Interdicting recruiting for standing armies and navies is an attempt to take away the right of the sovereign state to defend itself from hostile attack. If a nation-state cannot recruit soldiers to fill the ranks of its army and navy, that nation-state perishes at the hands of its mortal enemies.

Killing on Command

There are reams of pages that have tried to define war in history. The most concise definition of war is that war is simply “killing on command”. That is what war is. Modern warfare is not an unruly, undisciplined mob rampaging through a country and razing everything to the ground. Modern warfare and military science in western nation-states has become a precision discipline where applications of force are strictly controlled to minimize collateral damage. For example, the IED’s that terrorist Jihadi insurgents use against American and coalition forces in the War on Terrorism are unrestricted and undisciplined applications of military force and military ordnance. If US military engineers trained in the construction and deployment of IED technology began to implement that tactic on the modern unconventional battlefield, US military engineers would rack up body counts in hostile populations at 20,000 to 50,000 per month. This isn’t happening because US-trained improvised explosive experts are disciplined and are not using their valuable skills disposing of unsuspecting foreign populations like insurgents are. The US military then is the most disciplined military force in history, even with the minor problems that appeared at Abu Ghraib and other locations in Iraq and Afghanistan. If the US military took the gloves off like the insurgents have done against our forces, there wouldn’t be an insurgent left alive in Iraq and the US military would have to wait for more enemy reinforcements to arrive to keep the war going. The US military has spent billions of dollars creating systems of warfare designed to concentrate the application of military power in a very precise and humane way. The personal discipline of the individual soldier that forms the ranks of the US military is greater and more professional than any other military force in the world. The fact that war exists however, creates anti-war and anti-military opponents. There are just some folks out there that see no utility for a military created by a nation-state system regardless of reason. The folks hostile to the existence of a professional military force believe that all of the world’s problems can be solved in a compromising Utopian way, meaning that if governments just talk long enough then reason will emerge and someone will give in to the demands of the other side and military force will not have to be used as a measure of reckoning. While Utopian thinking may be interesting to impressionable sophomores in college who haven’t done anything exciting in their lives other than run down to the nearest train station to attend a Washington, DC, peace march, that form of thinking only creates conflict between nation-states. There are just some issues that cannot be resolved through compromise. Sometimes in international affairs, someone has to stand up and just say no. If the other side disagrees and rhetoric ensues, you can bet that a reckoning is on the way. So while peace marches may be fun for college sophomores, such marches have no influence on the belligerent hostile nation-state or fundamentalist Islamic terrorism. Prior to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks upon the United States, no other nation-state in the global community was doing more for Islamic populations around the world than the United States was. But that didn’t stop al Qai’da from flying fully-loaded civilian passenger aircraft into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, killing thousands of Americans.

Since the United States was being attacked by terrorists for over a decade prior to September 11, 2001, the al Qai’da terrorist attacks inside the United States unleashed the day where diplomacy was replaced with killing on command. Sovereign nation-states must call upon killing on command from time to time if they wish to survive nature and nature’s laws. Sovereign states know that diplomacy is never enough. That does not mean the sovereign state must be a war-mongering state, on the contrary, democracies take a very long time to go to war and are reluctant to do so, but once engaged are the most proficient and moral fighting forces in the world.

War as Conspiracy

The leftist western media has pretty good internal radar about when the United States prepares and then engages in war. It was pretty clear to all observers that when al Qai’da attacked unsuspecting US civilian populations on September 11, 2001, that a certain level of killing was going to follow by the US military under the orders of the US government. The United States, like other western nation-states, understands that terrorism is the willful absence of diplomacy. Islamic fundamentalist terrorists weren’t lobbying the US Congress for a redress of fundamentalist Islam’s grievances, like people that do not suffer from moral deficiencies do. The terrorists were instead planning and then implementing a terrorist attack to kill American citizens. In the absence of diplomacy, a sovereign state does not expect to be attacked by terrorists, nor do the civilians of that sovereign state. The civilians die in the act of terrorism, and diplomacy was never engaged by the aggressor. Terrorist organizations do this to instill a sense of futility in the targeted government. If the government can not protect its citizens from terrorism, that government begins to deteriorate and collapse. Terrorist organizations conduct campaigns of terror because those hostile groups are not interested in diplomacy and conflict resolution, they seek war and violence. Terrorists use terrorism as accelerated diplomacy or desired changes in the behavior of a nation-state system in the absence of talks. As the United States was systematically attacked by al Qai’da for years prior to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the United States realized that the terrorists wanted something, and since terrorism was used to try and coerce the United States, that something was obviously a demand that the United States was not going to agree to. In times such as this, a nation-state must have a highly-trained and fully-equipped military force. A nation-state must also have access to recruitment to fill the ranks of that force. When diplomacy becomes an irrational venue to confront belligerency, military force is rational.

To some leftist western media special interest groups, no condition of legitimacy can exist where the United States deploys military forces. To them, the deaths of thousands and possibly even millions of unsuspecting American civilians, is not enough for the United States to consider military action in response to aggression. If the United States does deploy military forces, to the leftist media special interest groups, there must be some form of underlying conspiracy involved. The military industrial complex or some fantasy about a new world order Illuminati conspiracy to enslave humankind must be in play. To these radical leftists, American lives mean nothing. American lives have no value that the US government could consider sending military power into a foreign country to avenge or defend them. To the radical left-wing, America is an evil capitalist country and the leftist media is still stinging that capitalist intellectuals in the United States were the ones who orchestrated the celebrated collapse of the perversionist collective formerly known as the Soviet Union. So the American people are brow-beat with leftist propaganda about the US military because the US Armed Forces are an extension of freedom and the idea of America that so many citizens around the world aspire to replicate. The radical left and its basement-organizing intellectuals recognize the power of motivated young men and women who believe in the idea of the Republic and capitalism, and preventing the deployment of US military power anywhere outside of the United States is a top priority for these people. If the US military does deploy, then plans are put in motion to attack the funding of the forces while they are engaged in war, and pressure is applied to reduce recruiting efforts for the military itself. Americans recognize these plans every time we lift a leftist media newspaper and start reading. This means that if the United States deploys military forces anywhere in the world for any moral and justified reason, enemies of America will say that it is immoral and unjustified.

It is really quite simple why America has so many enemies around the world. Americans walk around their country free. Other countries govern the complete activities of their people in an authoritarian and totalitarian type way. American men don’t like to live like that, and when American men have assault rifles put in their hands it is in their nature to completely destroy governments that do. That is a healthy thing for a free people and Americans should feel safe knowing there are millions of American men living and working all around them every day that have been trained by the US military to do just that. The American people are free because American men gathered together to kill on command. Fear is a good thing for hostile nation-states to embrace when thinking about US soldiers.

Military Utility

The utility of an Army in a free country cannot be underestimated. In every human culture, government must provide an outlet for masculine men to gather together and work on military skills and military science. If governments do not create such institutions that cater to such men, those men form their own institutions to meet their own needs. This only leads to revolutionary activity within the nation-state, so governments must always ensure that there are enough resources allocated to provide such men with the opportunity to become part of an army. Forming armies is a natural condition of men and should not be discouraged. Channeling the positive energies of men that want to become part of military forces is simply agreeing to the laws of nature and nature’s God.

Creating military institutions in the free-state also provides many other valuable benefits. Immigrants that come to the United States, for example, learn about our great country by joining our military. These immigrants get to live among American men that have been born and raised in the United States. It is basically a crash-course in learning about America and what is expected of men once they arrive.

The modern army is an institution that must exist and must be continuously well-financed so that men destined to wear the uniform of the US military have the opportunity to channel their gifts in the military institution. This is not to be confused with war-making because those are separate issues. The creation and sustaining of armies is a fluid program of government because the healthy and prosperous nation-state does not exist without them.

Recruitment Interdiction

At the core of dismantling US power internationally is a new radical leftist movement that has appeared since the Vietnam War to interdict in military recruitment. The United States is a very powerful country and the US solves many problems around the world through the use of diplomacy alone. When diplomacy is not enough, the American government knows that American soldiers wait in disciplined silence for instructions to destroy America’s enemies. American soldiers are trained by the best military and civilian minds in the United States. When it comes time to push America’s enemies over a cliff into the ocean to fill the enemy’s battlefield thirst with salt water, the US government knows that American soldiers will get the job done.

However, in our Republic, like all nation-states, there exists those that hate the military and they simply can’t stand the fact that the United States has the best military force in the world. There exist those that will do and say anything to deprive American men of their birthright to partake in the great adventure of the battlefield to defend America and their family honor. Since the Vietnam War, individuals and groups hostile to the idea of America and those brave men who take up arms to defend the United States have placed great effort in hurting the morale, recruitment and honor of US soldiers and the military institution.

The latest leftist media attack upon the proud US military has come in the form of recruitment waiver criticism. In any military force, recruitment hinges on attracting the best and brightest individuals to serve because discipline is very important in a standing army. Soldiers must be disciplined and only follow the orders of the leaders appointed over them to ensure the minimization of collateral damage and the total achievement of military objectives on the battlefield.

American soldiers are not in any way deficient, on the contrary, they are greater, more noble, terrible. American soldiers are greater because in times of war they will appear and volunteer for war, when the majority of other men that are faint of heart will not. American soldiers are more noble, because they will demonstrate individual characteristics of nobility when there is an emergency to help and save others, whether it be from weather or any other reason. American soldiers are also terrible, because when it comes time to take up arms against a hostile enemy, the American soldier energetically engages that enemy until victory is achieved, even if the American soldier is the lone survivor.

Now the leftist media that criticizes the US military for the use of waivers to recruit new soldiers is simply advancing an agenda against the national security of the United States to make recruiting prohibitively difficult for the US Armed Forces. The leftist planners that devised such schemes to attack military recruitment started with college campuses to prevent military recruiters from recruiting there. Then the leftist planners brought their tentacles down upon high schools to make them recruit-free zones as well. The US military defeated those attempts at recruitment interdiction. Now, having failed in previous attempts, the leftist media is now assailing the US military’s waiver program.

Recruiting standards in the US Armed Forces is very high, as it always is. However, there are times when the US military recognizes that some potential recruits may have gone astray when they were younger and had some minor criminal charges placed against them. This is where recruiting waivers come in. New recruits are required to explain every single charge they have encountered under the law, and when those charges are explained a waiver is typed up and sent up to a Field Grade Commissioned Officer for review. If the Field Grade Commissioned Officer feels that the recruit has been disciplined for the laws that they broke and the matters are cleared up, the recruit is granted the waiver so that they can join the military. America has always been a country of second-chances, and contrary to leftist media opinion, this is no different in the US military.

The leftist media is now claiming in articles they are propagating that these young American men who want to serve their country should not be entitled to a second chance. The US military is being criticized relentlessly for waivers that it issues, even though the waiver program itself has been in effect for decades. The leftist media critique then is only important now because of the War on Terrorism. The leftist media would not be writing articles about military waivers if that work wasn’t intended to hurt military recruitment. American soldiers know that the leftist media is against their efforts, but that doesn’t affect their morale in the least.

After all, this is the same perverse media that claimed that only stupid people joined the military. US soldiers today are the most educated and highly-trained segment of the American population, hands down.

This is the same perverse leftist media that writes articles glorifying the handcuffing and jailing of 5 year old boys for charges of “sexual harassment” in kindergarten. Now 10 or 20 new US Army recruits could go and rescue that 5 year old boy from the diabolical clutches of radical feminism in the depths of any US gallows while veteran combat US Army soldiers stand back to watch the training in progress, but US soldiers are the best and brightest in America and they know that even in this country sometimes mistakes are made by local government and it is not their job to rescue the 5 year old handcuffed kindergarten student. US soldiers know that eventually someone in the federal government will correct the reasons why the 5 year old boy was handcuffed.

This is the same perverse media that glorifies the imminent release of 30,000 dangerous criminals from the California prison system, and yet at the same time demands that the Bush Administration shut down the terrorist prison at Guantanamo Bay so that the terrorists can all be shipped to the United States for trial and internment in US prisons.

This is the same perverse media that bandied about the Abu Ghraib prison scandal for over two years, a break in discipline with one US Army unit while the same media demanded an institution-wide confession for imaginary crimes from all the rest of our brave and courageous soldiers. In communist societies, getting people to confess to imaginary crimes is status quo. In America, it simply doesn’t and will not happen, because American men do not confess to imaginary crimes.

The examples illustrated above are just a few of many showing leftist media hypocrisy and its hatred for America. US soldiers that join the US military to serve their country are soldiers, waivers or no waivers. Those soldiers will be treated with the respect they so deserve too. These recruits are not sitting on college campuses swearing allegiance to foreign communist organizations like the World Worker’s Party and other groups of crazies appearing today when America is in danger. These recruits are putting their futures aside to join the US military to defend the United States and the free world from transnational terrorism and the hostile nation-states that support the terrorists. No matter how many words are spoken to explain it however, the leftist media will never figure out that free men that side with America are the most creative, relentless and formidable force ever encountered in history.

Our enemies around the world know that when they tangle with the United States and threaten our freedom, there will be a reckoning—a settling of accounts.
