Zodiac
I am always interested in unsolved mysteries and crime stories
and I came across a great website devoted to the Zodiac case that was created
by Tom Voigt of
Special thanks to Tom Voigt for the work that he has done compiling evidence in the Zodiac case.
The information that I am providing as based upon my research of the Zodiac case does not include the vast work-up that was done on the Zodiac over the years by many other folks. I am presenting this information in such a way that those familiar with the case will have no difficulty in understanding it, but individuals interested in the full scope of the case should research it themselves for actual timelines and incident reports.
The following is the evidence I compiled to figure out the identity of the Zodiac. Most of Zodiac’s communications to police and the newspapers were attempts to reveal his identity as I will now prove:
Arthur Leigh Allen’s birthday: December 18, 1933
To determine the Zodiac numerology in astrology of Arthur Allen’s birthday, the following format is used to break the birth-date down to a single digit from 0 - 9:
12+18+1933
3+18+1933
4+8+1933
12+1933
3+1933
4+933
13+33
4+33
7+3
[10]
1+0 = 1
Arthur Leigh Allen’s Zodiac number is 1.
Whenever the Zodiac signed his name to letters using Z, he added one dot in the 4th Quarter of the Zodiac (the houses of 10, 11, and 12). There were other times that the Zodiac would place a “10” in the 4th Quarter, not as a claim of victims, but that his zodiac sign resided in the 4th Quarter because the house of 10 resides there.
This was a major clue that the Zodiac’s astrological number according to his birth-date was 1. Serial killers that contact police and the newspapers tempt police with clues about their identity.
The Zodiac’s numerological number is 1, as was Arthur Leigh Allen’s.
On November 29, 1966, Zodiac sent a letter to
the Riverside Enterprise newspaper titled “The Confession” and copies were
mailed to police. At the end of the letter Zodiac includes:
CC Chief of Police
Remarkably, on December 8, 1966, less than one week after Zodiac mailed his letter, the television show Star Trek aired its 13th episode entitled “The Conscience of the King”.
The synopsis for the show was as follows: “When the leader of a traveling theatrical troupe is suspected of being a genocidal governor, the suspicious deaths of people who could identify him concerns Kirk - especially since he’s one of the survivors.”
One of the main antagonists of that episode was a man called “Dr. Thomas Leighton”.
Arthur Leigh Allen – Dr. Thomas Leighton
This cannot be a coincidence! Zodiac was an avid movie buff and quoted movies and plays often in his letters. For example, Zodiac once quoted the Charlie Chan movie made in 1933 called “Charlie Chan vs. San Francisco Villain “Dr. Zodiac”. To seat this evidence, we must only look to another Zodiac letter in the next frame of this briefing.
On January 29, 1974, Zodiac mailed in his “Exorcist”
letter. This was another clue in a long line of clues that Zodiac enjoyed
television, movies and theatre.
In this particular letter, Zodiac writes:
He plunged him self into
The billowy wave
And an echo arose from
The suicides grave
Titwillo titwillo titwillo
Zodiac derived these verses of a song from the play “The Micado”. The song from the original play is:
Micado
On a tree by a river a
little tom-tit
Sang "
And I said to him,
"Dicky-bird, why do you sit
Singing '
"Is it weakness
of intellect, birdie?" I cried
"Or a rather
tough worm in your little inside"
With a shake of his
poor little head, he replied
"Oh, willow,
titwillow, titwillow!"
He slapped at his chest,
as he sat on that bough
Singing "
And a cold
perspiration bespangled his brow
Oh, willow, titwillow,
titwillow
He sobbed and he
sighed, and a gurgle he gave
Then he plunged
himself into the billowy wave
And an echo arose from
the suicide's grave
"Oh, willow,
titwillow, titwillow"
Now I feel just as
sure as I'm sure that my name
Isn't
That 'twas blighted
affection that made him exclaim
"Oh, willow,
titwillow, titwillow"
And if you remain callous
and obdurate, I
Shall perish as he
did, and you will know why
Though I probably
shall not exclaim as I die
"Oh, willow,
titwillow, titwillow"
Lyrics Source: Micado
Now, if you look where Zodiac spliced the lyrics for his letter we get:
Then he plunged
himself into the billowy wave
And an echo arose from
the suicide's grave
"Oh, willow,
titwillow, titwillow"
The next line of which is:
Now I feel just as sure
as I'm sure that my name
Isn't
This was a clue about Zodiac’s name! The authors of the song are:
W.S. Gilbert
Arthur Sullivan
Using the only letters available in the names above we derive the Zodiac’s full name:

Arthur Leigh Allen, but more importantly, using this letter
with his “
One of the best clues to the Zodiac’s identity
came in the form of a Halloween card that Zodiac mailed on October 27, 1970.

This is the front of the card. If you look closely at the ankles of the card, on the right ankle there is a + sign and on the left ankle there is a triangle sign. When you combine these together they form the Sagittarius astrological symbol:

Another important clue that Zodiac was a Sagittarius from the front of the card is that the parts of the body ruled by Sagittarius are the hips, the thighs and the liver, the obvious intent of Zodiac’s pumpkin placement. As the card states “I feel it in my bones, you ache to know my name.”
The nose on the skull is a triangle as is the left ankle and this may indicate the killer is saying that he is left-handed.
The number “14” on the skeleton’s right hand is not a victim tally, but a house location on the astrological wheel (houses 1 – 4).
Using the back side of the card below, Zodiac is providing more clues that he is a Sagittarius.

Zodiac’s use of 4-Teen is to give an important clue about his birth month. Houses 1 – 4 on the astrological wheel for Sagittarius are in that quadrant when compared to the triangle (trine) made from the skeleton’s ankles.
The trine is located in Quadrant 4 at 120 degrees. A reverse angle on that trine gives us 240 degrees, the angle of Sagittarius. The Zodiac symbol of Sagittarius is also the archer or the bow.
The shape of the legs in the skeleton is a direction for a map that is yet to be determined. The right leg passes through the PP in “happy”, leaving HA. The HA in determining Zodiac coordinates using the Zodiac navigation method that early ship captains used to use equates to Hour Angle. So HA equals Hour Angle, LST equals Sidereal Time, and RA equals Right Ascension. I am till plugging away at that part of the puzzle Zodiac has provided to us.
More importantly however, is this image in the card:

The image that Zodiac has drawn contains weather symbols, two specifically.
8-12 knots (9-14 mph) ![]()
13-17 knots (15-20 mph) ![]()
equals 3/8
equals 4/8
In astrology, the symbol
is called the “4th Quarter”, houses
of 10, 11 and 12 specifically. 10+11+12 = 33 (year of birth).
Likewise, in astrology, the symbol
is called the “
These are very important clues. First the 4th Quarter signifies the months of September through December and may be indicative of Zodiac’s increased activity. The trine from the card is also located in the 4th Quarter to symbolize Sagittarius.
The wind numbers appear to be clues about Zodiac’s birth-date in the window of Sagittarius (12 month, 15 to 20th day), or December 15 - 20. The “33” to me is Zodiac’s year of birth, using his houses clue on the astrological wheel.
Arthur Leigh Allen’s birthday was in the month of Sagittarius on December 18, 1933, and again he also used the 1933 film of Charlie Chan, another clue to his year of birth.
There are three known Zodiac ciphers that remain
unsolved. One of those ciphers is known as the “My Name is Cipher”. These are
the variables of the cipher below.

Zodiac sleuths have over the years since this cipher appeared believed that the cipher was provided by Zodiac to give the killer’s name. That is not the case. Zodiac gives the clue to solving the cipher using his name, Zodiac. The following is the first public release of the previously unsolved “My Name is Cipher”.
My name is [Zodiac]
So when you apply “Zodiac” to the cipher, it is solved in this way:
![]()
Z O D I A C Z O D I A C Z
Now to solve using the alphabet:
Z + A = 26 + 1 = 1 = A
O + E = 15 + 5 = 20 = T
D + N = 4 + 14 = 18 = R
I + R = 18 + 9 = 27 = A
A + 8 = 1 + 8 = 9 = I
C + K = 3 + 11 = 14 = N
Z + 8 = 8 = H or 8
O + M = 15 + 13 = 28 = B
D + 8 = 4 + 8 = 12 = L
I + F = 9 + 6 = 15 = O
A + N = 1 + 14 = O
C + A = 3 + 1 = 4 = D
Z + M = 26 + 13 = 13 = M or 13
The answer to the previously unsolved cipher is:
A train (h or 8) blood (m or 13)
This could equate to “A train blood 813” or “A train 8th blvd blood 13th”.
Now I punched 813 into Map Quest for the San Francisco area
and came up with a section around 813 Mount Diablo Blvd Lafayette, CA. The only
street near that address is
Either way, this is an important new clue!
There are still two remaining unsolved ciphers. If I come up with anything on those I will post them. The next graphic is Arthur Leigh Allen’s zodiac chart.

Conclusion:
Arthur Leigh Allen was born on December 18,
1933.
The numerical astrology number for 12/18/1933 is
1, the same that the Zodiac used.
December 18th falls into the sign of Sagittarius.
The Zodiac repeatedly gave information that he was a Sagittarius.
The Zodiac used weather symbols giving 8 – 12
knots (9 – 14 mph), and 13 – 17 knots (15 – 20 mph). To me, these are
indicative of date of birth within the Sagittarius birth period.
Zodiac quotes from the play “Mikado”, which
translates into Arthur Leigh Allen, as well as using “
In Arthur Leigh Allen’s will, he gave a pair of
“left-handed” scissors and an “archery set” to an individual, but the sentence
used to describe it was very peculiar. It appears that this sentence is a
confession that he was the Zodiac and the archery set was used to signify that
he was a Sagittarius.
The previously unsolved “My Name is Cipher”
provides new Zodiac clues that should be explored, specifically clues such as A
Train 8 Blvd, A Train H Blood M, 813 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Mt. Diablo CT Street
(dead end street that may have been topographically drawn by Zodiac in several
letters and at least one card) and A Train Mount Diablo Blvd.
Update: After further investigation, I have concluded that Arthur Leigh Allen was not the Zodiac Killer.
